The world is under threat of obliteration. Not from some scheming arch-enemy, but from an all engulfing force called Sin. Sin's power is first displayed when Tidus, a rising star in the high energy sport of Blitzball, sees a growing manipulatied wave of water tearing its way through the city. As crowds flee the stadium, Tidus spots his friend Auron and chases after him. Alien seed pods plummet to earth, embedding themselves in the concrete and hatching dark shapes.
